Luso Electronics Distribution, the sole UK and Ireland representative for SynQor power supplies and related components, has announced availability of the new SynQor RailQor series of DC-DC converters aimed specifically at the demanding thermal environments of transportation applications. Available in quarter-brick packages, the RailQor converters deliver full power operation without a heatsink at 85°C under no-airflow conditions. The new line of converters is designed to provide isolated DC power for applications such as LED displays, audio amplifiers, safety monitors, lighting, and communications systems that meet the EN50155 European Standard. These fixed-switching frequency converters use SynQor's synchronous rectifier based technology to achieve extremely high efficiency. The series' power dissipation has been reduced at very light loads, resulting in efficiencies exceeding 85% at as little as 10W output and 93% at full load. Minimal power dissipation allows the series to deliver up to 50W with no derating in environments with no airflow, no heatsink, and ambient temperatures up to 85°C. The full operating temperature range is from -40°C to +110°C baseplate temperature with airflow, or up to +125°C in natural convection environments. Nominal input voltages include 24V (9V to 36V), 68V (12V to 160V), 72V (42V to 110V), and 110V (66V to 160V) with output voltage offerings of 5V, 12V and 24V. Each module is completely encased to provide protection from harsh environments, and is available with an optional flanged style baseplate. Features include remote on/off control, +10% to -20% output voltage trim range, remote output voltage sense, input under-voltage lockout, output over-voltage protection, active back bias limiting, thermal shutdown, output current limit, and short circuit protection. The series is designed for up to 3000V DC and 100MOhm input-to-output isolation, is RoHS 6/6 compliant, and is rated with MTBF values in excess of 1 million hours at 70°C (MIL-217). The RailQor series of products are now available from Luso for evaluation and qualification; production quantities are available with 8 to 10-week lead-times, depending on volumes. About Luso Electronics Luso Electronics has three operating divisions. Luso Microwave manufactures and installs microwave systems and components for commercial and military satellite markets. Luso Power Transmission distributes engineering components for machinery and Luso Electronics Distribution provides representative and franchised distribution services for power electronic products and components. Across all three divisions, the company offers centralized purchasing, global sourcing, vendor reduction, kitting, logistics management and sourcing of hard-to-find components for its global customer base. Founded in 1967, Luso Electronics is a privately held company with offices in London and Birmingham, UK, and is quality approved to ISO EN 9001 (2000 REV).
