Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, a designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of power semiconductors and power ICs, released the AOZ226X, second generation of high efficiency, easy-to-use synchronous EZBuck regulators featuring a proprietary Constant On-Time (COT) control architecture that enables smaller solutions and simplifies designs. The AOZ226X provides the perfect solution for next generation computing chipsets that are pushing the limits of DC/DC converter size; such as those in the latest notebook PCs, ultrabooks, graphics cards, servers, data storage systems, and high-end smart TVs.

AOZ226X uses a proprietary COT PWM control with input feed-forward and results in ultra-fast transient response while maintaining relatively constant switching frequency over the entire input voltage range. The on-time is programmed externally. This new generation is ideal for enhancing the performance of DDR and Platform Controller Hub (PCH) applications. It is capable of supplying up to 15A of continuous output current with an output voltage adjustable down to 0.6V (±1%).

“These new COT buck converters feature an ultra-low quiescent current (150μA), which can help extend battery life when the system switches to standby mode. The high density power integration of the QFN4x4 package is perfect for reducing BOM size,” said Kenny Hu, Power IC Product Marketing Manager at AOS.
