Renesas to launch MCU Car Rally competition for students at embedded world 2014

Renesas Electronics Europe, a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced that it will be launching Europe’s first MCU Car Rally competition for students at embedded world 2014.

Teams of students from across Europe will use this exciting learning opportunity to build an autonomous, self-guided car from a kit of mechatronic components. They will have one year to optimise the hardware and software before they compete against other teams at the MCU Rally Challenge Event, which will take place in Germany in the first quarter of 2015. Renesas will award prestigious prizes to the selected teams, while the winning team will qualify for a sponsored trip to the Renesas Micon Car Rally in Japan in August 2015.

As the world’s leading supplier of microcontrollers, Renesas recognizes the necessity and importance of societal contribution and are proud to support the growth of the next generation of young leaders through the MCU Car Rally. The MCU Car Rally competition has been running for 20 years in Japan, with approximately 2,500 participants every year taking part over its history. It has also been held outside of Japan, including China and Vietnam, for over ten times in the past, all sponsored by Renesas.

The contest is open to all European university students, although priority will be given to students from Renesas’ partner universities. At embedded world 2014, Renesas will launch the contest and registration with a live MCU Car Rally track on stand 350 in Hall 1.
