30W DC/DC Converter for Railway and Industrial Applications

    02/03/2022

RCD30W series is a 30W high-performance DC/DC converter designed for ruggedized railway and industrial applications. It expands P-Duke’s railway converter range of 10W to 30W in a 1”x1” compact package. The series has 4:1 input voltage ranges of 9-36V, 18-75V, and 36-160V, which perfectly fits the supply voltages of rolling stock equipment. The series consists of single and dual output models including 3.3, 5, 5.1, 12, 15, 24, ±12, ±15, and ±24V output voltage and are equipped with circuits for over/under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature protection.

The high-power density DC/DC converters feature high efficiency of up to 92% that generate less power loss and allows operating temperatures with heat-sink at full load of up to 73°C ambient temperature (natural convection cooled) which meets the criteria of operating temperature class OT4, in accordance with EN 50155. The suffix “M3” refers to an option that allows the converter to operate at extremely low start-up temperatures -55°C, made especially for demanding, ruggedized railway and industrial applications in extreme temperature environments. The 1”x1” compact package simplifies the design thereby, saving up to 50% space on the PCB.

This series is certified according to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, EN 50155 and EN 45545-2 Standards. Additionally, shock and vibration levels are compliant with EN 61373 and MIL-STD-810F. With an operating altitude of up to 5000 meters, a wide operating ambient temperature of -40°C to +105°C and a 4:1 input voltage range makes these converters very suitable for any ruggedized, high reliability application, such as for rolling stocks and transportation or in harsh industrial environments.
