Flex Power Modules has introduced a new variant of the BMR684, a quarter-brick isolated DC/DC converter designed for telecom radio frequency power amplifier (RFPA) applications.
The BMR6841120/201 module delivers 800 W—an increase of 14% over the previous generation—while operating across a 36 V to 75 V input range and 50 V output. This enables telecom power system designers to achieve higher power density within a quarter-brick package, avoiding the need for a larger converter footprint.
Optimized for 48 / 50 Vin bus voltage architectures, the converter is well-suited for space-constrained designs where thermal performance and power density are critical. The converter achieves up to 96% efficiency at full load and supports baseplate operating temperatures of up to 100°C.
A full-bridge topology and a thermal design optimized for heat dissipation enable reliable full-power operation in demanding applications. The module is designed for through-hole mounting using a wave solder process.
The converter also features a PMBus interface for configuration and monitoring through the Flex Power Designer tool, supporting system-level control and fault reporting.
Measuring 58.4 x 36.8 x 13.3 mm (2.30 x 1.45 x 0.52 in), the module provides 1500 VDC input-to-output isolation and includes built-in protections such as monotonic start-up, input under-voltage protection, output over-voltage protection, output short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection. These features support stable operation and help protect both the converter and the system under fault conditions.
The BMR6841120/201 is in mass production, with samples available now.
