ABB to offer Grid Connection technical training prior to AWEA Windpower 2014

    04/21/2014

ABB, in conjunction with the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), is proud to announce it will again host a free training seminar on the latest technologies and best practices involving grid connection technologies unique to the wind industry.

The half-day technical training, called “Wind Farm Best Practices: The latest developments in grid connected technologies,” will take place on Monday afternoon, May 5 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas from 1:00 to 5:00 pm local time, just prior to the opening of the 2014 AWEA Windpower Conference & Exhibition.

The training program will include the following topics:
    · Latest developments for managing reactive power to meet grid codes
    · Latest energy storage and microgrid applications
    · Latest breakthroughs in Statcom and Series Condensers
    · Special challenges encountered when connecting to the grid.
    · Case studies and results from real world projects will highlight how wind generation can be well-managed while improving the bottom line.

AWEA Windpower will run from May 5-8, and ABB will be exhibiting in booth #4148 on the show floor at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

“This pre-show technical training, much like our popular Transformers seminar before last year’s AWEA Windpower show, allows windpower-focused engineers and operators to come together in a non-commercial venue to get a first-hand look at the newest available technologies for interconnecting wind farms with the grid. They’ll also hear some real-life success stories,” said Dennis McKinley, ABB director of wind power solutions in North America. “ABB looks forward to offering this free technical training to anyone in the wind industry interested in delving into some of the exciting new breakthroughs going on in grid connection.”
