AEC-Q100 qualified dual die angle sensor from Infineon at Rutronik

    01/16/2018

The dual die 360° angle sensor TLE5012BD from Infineon is designed for angular position sensing in automotive applications such as electrical commutated motors, steering angle measurements or general angular sensing. It detects the orientation of a magnetic field by measuring sine and cosine angle components with monolithic integrated Giant Magneto Resistance (iGMR) elements. The TLE5012BD is available at www.rutronik24.com.

The TLE5012BD is fully redundant with two sensor ICs in one package. It determines highly precise angle values over a wide temperature range and a long lifetime using an internal autocalibration algorithm. 360° angle measurement is carried out with revolution counter and angle speed measurement. The absolute angle value and other values are transmitted via Synchronous Serial Communication (SSC) or via a Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM) Protocol. The sine and cosine raw values can also be read out. These raw signals are digitally processed internally to calculate the angle orientation of the magnetic field (magnet). Data communications are accomplished with a bi-directional SSC that is SPI-compatible.

The TLE5012BD is a pre-calibrated sensor. The calibration parameters are stored in laser fuses. At start-up the values of the fuses are written into flip-flops, where they can be changed by the application-specific parameters.

The sensor supports Safety Integrity Level (SIL) with online diagnostic functions and status information to ensure a reliable operation.
