Allied Electronics to sponsor Gadget Freak Smackdown at EE Live! 2014

    03/10/2014

Allied Electronics, a trading brand of Electrocomponents,
announced that the company will sponsor EE Times Gadget Smackdown
at this year's EE Live! 2014 conference to be held March 31 to April 3
    in San Jose, California.

"The concept behind Gadget Freak Smackdown represents exactly what we
stand for at Allied, so the opportunity to sponsor it is an honor,"
said Gabriel Reichman, Allied Customer Marketing Manager. "As an
electronics distributor, innovation is at the heart of why we're in
business and we love to see the exciting work being developed by
electronic design engineers. We've seen some incredible, even
life-saving, gadgets over the many years we've sponsored Gadget Freak,
and we're looking forward to the game-changing ideas our customers are
    thinking up now."

The event is organized and co-hosted by self-proclaimed Editor of all
things Fun and Interesting at EE Times, Clive "Max" Maxfield, and
Richard Quinnell, Editor in Chief of IoTWorld. "Gadget Freak Smackdown
is designed to give engineers a chance to present a cool, fun and
interesting project they have finished, are building, or plan to build
one day," explains Maxfield. "Anyone attending the conference or
exhibition is welcome to participate, so long as they arrange their
presentation with either Richard or me. Follow us at @eeliveshow for
    live tweets during the event."

Three sessions will be held in the EE Times Fantastical Theater of
Engineering Innovation located in the exhibition arena. The sessions
will be held over three days, April 1 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, April 2
from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, and April 3 from noon to 1:00 pm. The winner of
each session will receive a FLIR VP50 Non-Contact Voltage Detector +
    Flashlight, donated by Allied Electronics.
