Antaira Debuts IP67 Fast Ethernet Switches for Railway and Industrial Automation Networks

Antaira has launched the LNX-0800-M12-67 Series, a new line of 8-port Fast Ethernet unmanaged switches equipped with a robust IP67 waterproof housing and vibration-proof M12 connectors to withstand harsh railway and industrial automation environments. Superior resistance to dust, water ingress, and vibration protects against network disturbances while the flexible 12-48VDC power input makes it suitable for where a variety of power sources are available or where power redundancy is required.

An ongoing challenge in industrial settings is maintaining connectivity. One loose connection can lead to costly network downtime or incorrect sensor readings. That's why the LNX-0800-M12-67 features eight 10/100BASE-TX ports utilizing M12 D-coded connectors for the most reliable data transmission, along with a dedicated M12 A-coded connector for safeguarding power. The port count is beneficial as it allows for more devices to be connected to the network simultaneously, increasing the potential for scalability and accommodating future expansion.

The Antaira LNX-0800-M12-67 is built to meet the stringent requirements of key target markets:

  • Railway: Compliant with EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, and EN 50121-4 standards, the the LNX-0800-M12-67 is qualified for a wide range of railway applications, including onboard train control systems, trackside signaling, station infrastructure management such as information displays and access control, and integrated security and surveillance systems. EN 50155 is an international standard for electronic equipment used in railway applications, particularly on rolling stock like trains, trams, and other rail vehicles.
  • Industrial Automation: With its IP67 rating and M12 connectors, the switch can be deployed with confidence in factory and energy automation systems where reliable connectivity in harsh conditions is mission critical. Besides being extremely robust, M12 connectors have a small, circular design for easier integration into tight spaces on machinery, sensors, or actuators, saving space without sacrificing networking performance.

Factories, remote sites, substations and railways frequently expose network equipment to extreme heat, freezing cold, or rapid temperature fluctuations. The LNX-0800-M12-67 Series offers a standard operating range of -10°C to 65°C or -40°C to 75°C for the extended range "T" model. Its compact housing can be either DIN-Rail mounted in a control cabinet or wall mounted, maximizing space efficiency. Dual mounting options simplifies planning and installation, as LNX-0800-M12-67 switches can be used across multiple sites without requiring different models.
