APEC sponsors provide travel support so students can attend

    01/10/2014

The joint sponsors of the Applied Power Electronics Conference have announced the expansion of the popular travel support program to $40,000 for students planning to attend APEC 2014 in Ft. Worth, Texas, March 16-20, 2014. Now in its ninth year, the program will subsidize a portion of the travel and conference expenses for students from around the world. A total of 49 students will benefit from this program, with some sharing the financial support with colleagues from the same institution.

The award recipients represent a cross-section of the top-quality engineering students pursuing a career in power electronics. The students are from the United States, Denmark, China, India, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Spain, Egypt, France, Ireland, Taiwan, Italy and Israel.

“Each of the students selected is an author or co-author of a paper accepted for presentation at APEC 2014,” said Joe Horzepa, Executive Director of PSMA. “With well over 100 applicants, selection of the recipients was a challenging exercise. It is encouraging to see so many universities around the globe with world-class power electronics programs.”

The APEC Student Attendance Travel Support Award program, initiated by the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA), is now jointly underwritten by PSMA and the other co-sponsors of the APEC Conference – the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS).
