Arrow Electronics Unveils World's First Development Kit Featuring Production Silicon Altera Agilex 5 FPGA

    08/12/2025

Arrow Electronics, a global technology solutions provider, has announced the availability of its new FPGA development platform, the AXE5000 starter kit, featuring the world's first production silicon Altera Agilex™ 5 FPGA. This release provides engineers with an opportunity to evaluate and develop designs with a production-ready device.

Building on the successful launch of the Agilex™ 5 AXE5-Eagle development kit in 2024, the AXE5000 starter kit is the second addition to Arrow's Agilex™ 5 development kit lineup. The Altera Agilex™ 5 series devices are known for their exceptional performance-per-watt in compact form factors, making them ideal for a wide range of FPGA applications. With logic sizes spanning from 50k to 656k Logic Elements (LEs) and scaling down to 15mm x 15mm through various package sizes, these FPGAs offer significant flexibility.

The Agilex™ 5 is the industry's first FPGA to integrate AI capabilities through the adoption of AI tensor blocks within its enhanced DSP block, delivering high-performance AI and DSP functionalities. Furthermore, the Agilex™ 5 achieves superior performance thanks to its second-generation Hyperflex™ FPGA Architecture.

Arrow’s AXE5000 Starter Kit helps customers evaluate the features of Altera Agilex™ 5 E-series and speeds up product development. With the CRUVI HS connector and Arduino MKR standard pads, various adapter boards can be connected to this kit, like a 2k camera, video output, memory, ADC/DACs, sensors and much more. The AXE5000 can also be modified and redesigned for customisation purposes.
