AVX custom cable assemblies for 9159 Series two-piece wire-to-board connectors

AVX, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, offers custom cable assemblies for its extensive 9159 Series two-piece wire-to-board (WTB) connectors. Paired with the highly reliable, two-piece contact system, which features an integral latch to prevent unmating in harsh commercial and industrial applications, the new bonded cable assemblies match the pitch of the connector, provide a cleaner appearance than discrete wires bound by cable ties, and simplify the assembly process by providing customers with a complete, custom, and fully tested connector solution. The build-to-print cable assemblies also enable a near infinite number of complete WTB solutions by accommodating any combination of connector size and orientation, wire type and color, and single- or double-ended assemblies.

“We at AVX are actively engaged with our customers and continuously work to provide them with innovative solutions to their unique design criteria and challenges,” said Tom Anderson, product manager at AVX. “The sole motivation for developing our own wire and cable termination equipment was to provide our customers with an in-house, value-added solution that would increase the efficiency and reliability of the final cable assemblies that utilize our versatile and robust 9159 Series connectors, which are broadly employed in dozens of applications.”

AVX’s 9159 Series two-piece plug and socket connectors comprise the most extensive collection of low profile, low pin count (2p-6p), WTB solutions available in the industry. Based on high reliability, gold plated beryllium copper (BeCu) spring contacts and rated for a full 5A per contact and operating temperatures spanning -40°C to +125°, 9159 Series connectors provide maximum contact integrity and performance when bringing power and signals onto or off of a PCB in a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications. Ideal applications for the series include: portable commercial and industrial handheld terminals, scanners, and meters; medical devices, including patient monitoring and drug dispensing equipment; solid-state lighting fixtures; industrial electronic modules and controls; and transportation applications, including console, police, and emergency lighting.
