The recovering automotive industry has led to a significant increase in demand for components, according to the organizers of North America's largest coil winding, insulation and electrical manufacturing exhibition (CWIEME). US car sales jumped by over 13% in 2012 and in July 2013 sales reached their best level for seven years as low interest rates and favourable exchange rates helped revitalise the sector and demand for motors and other electrical components. CWIEME Chicago, being held at the DE Stephens Convention Centre from 8 to 10 October 2013, is expected to draw over 1400 visitors and 160 exhibitors, of which 50% will be senior design engineers and purchasing managers from the automotive industry. According to the organizers, i2i Events Group, the recovering US auto industry and a move towards ‘in-sourcing' of manufacturing jobs away from lower cost pan-Asian countries are just two reasons why CWIEME 2013 is expected to draw its biggest ever attendance. Some of the world's biggest suppliers of components will be exhibiting at CWIEME including: Kienle & Spiess, Tecumseh Products and R.Bourgeois. This October's exhibition will be the first time it is under the ownership of i2i Events Group, which acquired the event and its sister shows in Bangalore, Shanghai and Berlin in September 2012. The event will include a new visitor program that includes external speakers, product and technical workshops along with round table discussion with the Transformer Association, dedicated networking events and a machinery zone, all of which is aimed at increasing participation and business opportunities for visitors. Confirmed keynote speakers include Ravi Gorur, from the US Department of Energy, who will be speaking on the US renewable energy plan; Ben Ehmcke, CEO of Ehmcke Consulting, and Samir Kagalwala, from the Power Magnetics Consultancy. Haf Cennydd, i2i Events Group's Portfolio Director, said, "speaking to exhibitors and visitors, it is clear that the recovering US auto-industry is boosting demand for components such as coils, transformers and electrical insulation, all of which are essential in car production. This is fantastic for the industry and we are excited to be welcoming these additional visitors to the exhibition. "This is the first CWIEME Chicago under the ownership of i2i Events Group which means we will be offering a brand new visitor programme that includes keynote speeches, dedicated networking sessions, seminars, and a machinery zone in order to help increase interaction and discussion."
