PTS 641 Series switches

C&K Components, a leading supplier of tact switches, toggle and rocker switches, and smart card interconnect devices, has developed a novel series of SMT top-actuated, momentary action tactile switches with a miniature footprint, several color-coded actuation force options, and an optional ground pin configuration. Rated for an operating life of 100,000 cycles, PTS 641 Series switches measure a mere 6.3mm x 6.3mm and feature three board-mounted profile options of 2.5mm, 3.1mm, and 3.4mm, which makes them ideal for use in metering, white goods, and home and garden equipment applications.

PTS 641 Series switches are RoHS-compliant SPST (single-pole, single-throw), top-actuated, momentary action devices with several color-coded options for operating force ratings and travel distances: the blue actuator designates 160gf +/-50gf operation force and 0.20mm +/-0.15mm travel, the red actuator designates 250gf +/-50gf operation force and 0.20mm +/-0.15mm, and the black actuator designates 320gf +/-80gf operation force and 0.30mm+/- 0.15mm travel. Contacts are rated for 50mA (max) and 12VDC (max) with bounce time of <5ms, and operating temperatures spanning -20°C to 70°C.

"The PTS 641 Series' range of actuation forces, profile heights, optional ground pin, and 100,000 cycle lifespan provide design engineers with enhanced precision and flexibility when specifying switches for a wide range of white goods, metering, and home and garden equipment applications," said Jerome Smolinski, senior product manager at C&K Components.

PTS 641 Series switches are supplied in 1,500-piece tape-and-reel packaging. Samples are currently available.
