Cree shows a solar inverter solution based on their latest SiC devices (PSDtv)

In this episode of PSDtv Cree demonstrates a solar inverter solution based on their latest silicon carbide semiconductors for Power Systems Design. This demo has delivers 50 kW in a 50-kilogram package, for a power density of 1kW/kg. Using Cree's SiC diodes and MOSFETs, the device is switching at 48kH to demonstrate that one can use much smaller passives for a 40% weight savings at such a high power level with a high operating efficiency.
