The 2.5 x 2.0 mm AK2 crystal oscillator series has the smallest profile in the ClearClock family and is designed to address space-constrained, high-data networking applications such as PCI Express (PCIe) and optical transceivers.

“The necessity to develop high-performance, compact oscillator solutions that also support next-generation data rate clocking requirements for applications like optical modules, small video cameras, and active cables is ever-increasing and cannot be settled by utilizing traditional oscillator design methods,” said Brooke Cushman, a product engineer at Abracon.

The AK2 uses a third overtone technology to outperform the competition and provide the ideal convergence of small size and superior jitter performance. The quieter architecture also avoids phase locked loop (PLL) based multiplication to reduce overall power consumption far below other jitter-optimized oscillators available in miniature form factors.
