DOE releases two updates to EnergyPlus

    01/08/2015

DOE is releasing two updates to the 8.2.0 version of its open-source whole-building energy modeling software EnergyPlus. Both updates are available for download from Github. This update includes a critical bug fix related to SQLite tabular output, and smaller fixes related to the definition of exterior equipment, electric chillers, and unitary HVAC systems.

All users who have downloaded V8.2.0 are encouraged to download and install this update. This is an “iteration” or “beta” release focused on performance improvement. EnergyPlus version 8.2.0 was slower than version 8.1.0 on smaller models because of overhead introduced during the translation of EnergyPlus from FORTRAN to C++. Version 8.2.6 eliminates this slowdown and reduces execution time below 8.1.0 levels. It also includes update 1.2.
