DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts continues to meet wire and cable (W&C) industry demands for innovative solutions with advanced new materials based on DuPont™ ECCtreme® ECA 3000 perfluoroplastic resin. This new class of perfluoroplastic presents new possibilities in applications that are central to modern life. DuPont™ ECCtreme® ECA 3000 fluoroplastic resin is aimed at performance in very harsh environments found in the oil and gas, aerospace, automotive, electronic semi-conductor manufacturing and CPI industries. The Underwriters Laboratory (UL) has now added Table 50.40 to the ANSI/UL 1581 Standard, Ed. 4. This revision includes new requirements for 300 °C rated Epitaxial Co-crystallized Alloy (ECA) perfluoroplastic insulations and jackets from appliance wiring materials. ECA is the first and only Class of material currently in ANSI/UL 1581 with 300 °C requirements. This uniquely positions ECC/ECA as a new class of material. "ECCtreme® ECA 3000 perfluoroplastic resin breaks the longstanding upper use limit of 260 °C in perfluoroplastic material requirements," said James R. Hoover, global regulatory affairs manager, DuPont Fluoroplastics. "This resin extends that limit to 300 °C, while retaining the processibility and high-performance properties that are typical of perfluoroplastics." "This material has potential to play a critical role in enhancing technologies for wire and cabling markets," said Frenk C. Hulsebosch, global business leader, DuPont Fluoroplastics. "That speaks to the commitment DuPont has to helping our customers and end-users continually improve performance to meet society's needs today and in the future. DuPont is working to lead the way in developing new advanced materials technologies to meet the demanding needs of the wire and cable industry." With a 40-year history in the wire and cabling business, wire and cable products made with DuPont Fluoroplastics are known for their excellent chemical resistance, superior electrical properties, and high service temperatures. DuPont offers a wide variety of perfluoroplastic resins processible by various means, all of which offer high dielectric strength, a low dielectric constant, low loss factors and extremely high heat resistance. Our fluoroplastic resins surpass most materials in their level and stability of dielectric properties over a broad range of thermal and environmental conditions. DuPont
