The newest version of the Power Xpert 200E gateway delivers cost-effective data acquisition to measure and maximize energy efficiency.

Eaton Corporation announced the launch of the Power Xpert 200E, an intelligent information gateway that collects energy usage data from meters, enabling customers to benchmark energy usage, set energy-management goals, determine the effectiveness of energy-management initiatives, and reduce energy costs. The Power Xpert 200E gateway reports on energy usage at the device, building, and campus levels, indicating energy usage trends and developing a baseline to enable customers to maximize energy efficiency. "Eaton is helping customers use electrical power more efficiently and control energy costs," said Rick Schear, Eaton product manager. "The Power Xpert 200E gateways provide an economical means for measuring and improving building energy efficiency. It allows customers to allocate energy costs, reduce peak-demand surcharges, and power-factor penalties." Enabling customers to measure and verify energy usage, the Power Xpert 200E gateway acquires data that can be instrumental in helping both existing and new buildings take advantage of government incentives. Customers can use the data from the Power Xpert 200E gateway for existing buildings to obtain the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR label, and new buildings to earn LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits through the U.S. Green Building Council. Eaton engineered the Power Xpert 200E gateway for use as a data acquisition tool for serially communicating energy meters - through an embedded web server or connection to Ethernet-based applications - including enterprise management, demand response, and smart grid programs. With the Eaton Digital Input Module, the Power Xpert 200E gateway can also monitor and water, air, gas, electric, and steam meters, so that customers can monitor energy usage patterns and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvements. No software is required to access energy data, yet the data is importable into other systems. Additionally, the Eaton Power Xpert 200E gateways operate with the Power Xpert Energy Viewer, a free software download. The Power Xpert Energy Viewer provides a simple way to gather key energy parameters and display them in easy-to-read reports to make informed power management decisions. www.eaton.com
