Eaton UPSs earn ENERGY STAR qualification

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton today announced Eaton 5P, 5PX and 9PX uninterruptible power system (UPS) models available in the Americas are ENERGY STAR® qualified following stringent third party testing and verification of meeting the program's energy efficiency requirements. The qualification means that the Eaton UPSs are among the most efficient on the market, and allow customers to effectively reduce electrical usage and carbon footprint. Following the qualification, Eaton now offers the largest selection of ENERGY STAR UPSs for server, storage and network protection applications. According to ENERGY STAR, if all UPSs sold in the U.S. in 2012 meet the ENERGY STAR requirements, the energy cost savings will grow to $471 million and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the emissions from more than 636,000 vehicles. "Reducing power consumption without sacrificing reliability in server, storage and network environments is a primary challenge for today's information technology (IT) and data center professionals," said Hervé Tardy, vice president and general manager, Eaton Distributed Power Quality Division. "Eaton is globally committed to developing highly efficient solutions designed to deliver the most business value possible. Earning the ENERGY STAR qualification for these UPS units is a merited exemplification of our mission." ENERGY STAR is a joint program established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy intended to help consumers save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
