Eaton’s 93E series UPS

Power management company Eaton has announced a new range of high-efficiency Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) developed specifically to meet the needs of contractors, installers and facilities managers with requirements for a cost-effective power protection solution that’s easy to implement and use.

Eaton’s new 93E series UPSs, which are available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), feature double-conversion technology to provide the best possible protection for supported loads, but achieve efficiencies as high as 98.5 percent when mains power quality is good. This places them firmly among the most efficient products of their class and, together with their high reliability design and ABM technology that extends battery life by up to 50 percent, guarantees low total cost of ownership (TCO).

“With their small footprint, ease of selection and wide range of software and connectivity options, these new products are an important addition to the Eaton UPS product family,” said Jorge Aguinaga, product manager at Eaton’s Power Quality Division. “They’re readily configurable, simple to use and at the same time deliver exceptional performance and reliability. In addition they’re backed by the full range of Eaton service options, ensuring that they will have long service lives.”

Offered with power ratings of 80, 100, 120, 160 and 200 kVA, the 93E units have an industry-leading input power factor of 0.99 with less than 5 percent ITHD (total harmonic current distortion), thus eliminating the risk of interference with other critical equipment on the same supply network. In addition, they are optimised for protecting modern 0.9 power factor IT equipment without the need for oversizing.

For large or particularly demanding applications, up to three 93E series UPSs can be connected in parallel to increase capacity, or up to four can be connected in parallel to provide redundancy. When these options are used, Eaton’s patented Powerware Hot Sync technology enables load sharing without the need for a dedicated communication line, thereby eliminating a potential single point of failure and increasing power availability.

All Eaton 93E series UPSs include a large graphical LCD panel that shows UPS status and allows easy access to measurements, controls and settings. As standard, the units have integral USB and RS 232 ports as well as two Eaton Mini-Slots that can accommodate optional connectivity cards, including types for use with Ethernet and Modbus networks.
