    Eaton’s XLR supercapacitor module

Eaton’s new XLR supercapacitor module, providing energy storage for high power charge/discharge cycling and peak power shaving applications, and improving power quality for voltage spikes and brown outs, is now available in Europe through TTI, a leading specialist distributor of electronic components.

The XLR module is ideal for use in hybrid or electric vehicles, public transportation, material handling, heavy equipment, as well as marine systems. The device can reduce battery size and weight or replace batteries altogether depending upon the load profile. This results in fuel savings, noise reduction and/or a more stable electrical system.

The 48V, 166F, 5mohm supercapacitor module is a self-contained energy storage device comprised of 18 individual XL60 supercapacitor cells. It benefits from low ESR values and a long lifetime of up to 20 years or >1 million charge/discharge cycles. The part is completely maintenance free, easy to mount and includes integrated cell voltage management circuitry and an overvoltage alarm.
