Energy Micro appoints Andrea Marchi as VP of Sales for Asia-Pacific

    12/01/2010

Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller company, has announced the appointment of Andrea Marchi as VP of Sales for the APAC region. He joins Energy Micro's General Manager and Director of Sales, Greater China, Bryan Hung, at the company's newly opened Asia Headquarters in Hong Kong. Andrea joins Energy Micro from Texas Instruments, Dallas, where he was General Manager of the Ultra Low Power & C5000 DSP business unit. He was formerly Director of TI's Analog Business in Europe and Director of the company's European ASIC & Wireless Infrastructure DSP Group. He holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Milan Polytechnic, Italy. "Initial market reaction to Energy Micro's low power EFM32 Gecko microcontroller has already been very positive in Asia-Pac and it's the right time to establish a stronger foothold there. I look forward to further expanding our activities in the territory," said Marchi. Andreas Koller, VP Sales and Marketing worldwide added, "Success in medical, metering, security and other battery operated product sectors in the APAC region is there to be built on. Energy sensitive product design is rapidly becoming an essential discipline and Andrea's experience and skill set will help us to enhance customer support levels throughout the region." Energy Micro launched its first EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family in 2009 and details of its forthcoming entry-level Tiny Gecko microcontroller family have also been announced. Based on the energy efficient 32-bit ARM® Cortex(TM)-M3 core, the Gecko microcontrollers are capable of consuming a quarter of the energy of other 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers. The EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers are to be supported by a comprehensive development environment called the Simplicity Studio, comprising Energy Micro's own energyAware software tools and code libraries, development kits and a broad range of third party IDE/complier, debug adapter, programmer and RTOS products.
