    EnerSys Announces Grand Opening of New Production Facility in China

    EnerSys, the world's largest manufacturer, marketer and distributor of industrial batteries, announced today the grand opening of its new battery manufacturing facility in Shuangqiao District, Chongqing, The Peoples Republic of China. In addition to the Company's two existing Chinese production facilities the new plant will provide capacity to meet increasing customer demand in the telecommunication, nuclear power utility and uninterruptible power supply industries as well as motive power customers. The new plant located near the geographic center of China is approximately 400,000 square feet and will eventually employ over 1,100 people. At the grand opening ceremony John D. Craig, chairman, president and chief executive officer of EnerSys stated, "Demand for our products both in China and throughout the Asian markets remains strong. This new facility will serve both existing as well as new customers in the region. It is a state of the art facility, which is one of our four largest of our thirty one production facilities globally and is anticipated to generate $150 million in revenue annually when fully operational." www.enersys.com
