    ERC Brings Europe's Top Brains to Share Frontier Research on AI

    The European Research Council (ERC) will host a scientific conference "Frontier Research and Artificial Intelligence" in Brussels on 25 and 26 October 2018. The event will bring together more than 20 excellent researchers, all breaking new ground in AI, yet from different scholarly disciplines.

    The conference aims to explore the state of the art of research on AI, get a better understanding of likely benefits and potential threats of this technology, and discuss possible ways of seizing the opportunities of AI, whilst limiting its negative effects.

    Debates will be grouped into themes:

    • Why AI matters
    • The foundations of AI
    • AI and the brain
    • The ethics of AI
    • Applied AI: vision, mobility, language and science
    • AI and society: where are we headed?

    Webcast debate (#ERCtalk) will follow the conference on 26 October 2018.
