Freescale won the Automotive Electronics category at the 2013 NMI Electronic Systems Awards ceremony.
The judges cited the company’s Qoriva MPC577xK microcontroller and MRD2001 radar transceiver chipset as being important breakthroughs in the move to safer vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems.
The category, which is new for 2013, reflects the increased importance of automotive electronics to the UK economy and the organisers noted how essential it was that new products enable end user requirements of functionality and safety within a tight window of market opportunity, while meeting exceptionally high quality and reliability standards. The category is sponsored by Compugraphics and was presented by the company’s VP of business development, Brian Young and NMI’s CEO, Derek Boyd.
