Genscape expands real-time power generation to Slovakia

    06/19/2013

Genscape, a provider of real-time generation and transmission visibility to market participants, recently announced expansion of its generation coverage to include Slovakia. By the end of 2013, Genscape will cover six of the eight major power plants over 100 MWs for a total of 5,095 MWs (60%) of the installed capacity in Slovakia. Current coverage includes five major power plants, all eight cross-border strategic transmission points, 1,890 MWs of nuclear (97% coverage), 720 MWs of hydro and 735 MWs of pumped storage (57%), and 430 MWs of gas (28%). By summer's end, Genscape plans to cover one additional power plant, 660 MWs of gas (71%), 440 MWs of coal (100%), and 220 MWs of mixed fuel (55%). "Genscape has strategically and aggressively expanded its proprietary network of energy monitors to provide the most comprehensive, accurate, real-time data to market participants. More recently we have focused our efforts on expanding coverage of Eastern Europe, which now includes much of Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Hungary and Poland," says Tedann Olsen, Genscape's Managing Director of Europe. Genscape's Power RT platform allows market participants who are price forecasting, modeling, predicting outputs, or conducting other types of analysis to use this data to develop better trading and hedging strategies. Genscape is sponsoring the Energy Trading Central & South Eastern Europe Conference 19-20 June 2013, an event that brings together over 400 senior energy trading professionals. Genscape's European team will be providing live demos of the Power RT Europe product and updates on upcoming expansion plans. Genscape
