W. L. Gore & Associates has expanded its line of GORE® Protective Vents with a product specifically engineered to increase the reliability of outdoor electronic enclosures that are commonly exposed to changing weather and environmental conditions. The Series VE9 Adhesive Vent enables outdoor electronic enclosures to be designed with normal seals and gaskets without the need to upgrade to more costly ruggedized seals and gaskets. This provides cost savings, combined with longer product life, for manufacturers of outdoor electronic enclosures used in the telecommunications, exterior lighting, solar and smart meter industries. Integrating the Series VE9 Adhesive Vent into an enclosure is easy, thanks to the durable adhesive and all ePTFE construction that allows the vent to be mounted on either the interior or exterior of the housing, depending on protection rating needs. This enables enclosure manufacturers to realize design flexibility and cost savings, while increasing reliability. Combined with Gore's UL-listed ePTFE membrane, the Series VE9 Adhesive Vent offers a typical airflow of 1150 ml/min/cm2. This allows for fast equalization of pressure caused by sudden temperature changes, while still meeting industry standards. In addition to high airflow, the Series VE9 Vent is robust enough to withstand water, dust, dirt, rain, and other harmful liquids which often cause problems for non-vented outdoor enclosures. The new Series VE9 Adhesive Vent is the latest addition to Gore's Adhesive Vents offered in various sizes. In addition, Gore offers a full line of plastic and metal screw-in vents which are available in various thread types. GORE® Protective Vents will help improve product performance and increase the lifetime of sensitive electronics by equalizing pressure and managing condensation in the enclosure. At the same time, these vents protect electronics from contaminants such as dirt, dust, salts, water and various harmful liquids. With offices and testing facilities located throughout the world, Gore application teams are available to work closely with manufacturers' design teams from initial product concept through rigorous testing and integration then into the final manufacturing process.
