    Harwin Gecko Hi-Rel connectors

Harwin Gecko space-saving hi-rel connectors now available from TTI

    12/13/2013

Now available from TTI, a leading specialist distributor of passive, connector, electromechanical and discrete components, Harwin Gecko (G125) Series Hi-Rel connectors provide a low-profile, dual row cable-to-board and board-to-board interconnect solution in a miniature package. Answering the requirement to save space and weight in hi-reliability applications, the Gecko Series is based on 1.25mm pin spacing, resulting in up to 35% space saving over other high-performance connectors such as Micro-D.

Gecko connectors are rated to handle 2A per contact and offer up to 50 contacts per connector. Further features include polarization points that prevent mis-mating, easy identification of the No 1 position for fast visual inspection and optional latches for extra security of connection. Tested and proven to provide high performance in extreme conditions, the Gecko G125 family can operate across a wide temperature range of -65 to +150degC and under extreme vibration (Z axis 100g 6m/s). This high performance is made possible by Harwin’s four-finger patented Copper Alloy contact.

Gecko connectors are manufactured to withstand high numbers of mating cycles but also feature low insertion and extraction forces. Cable connectors feature a rear potting wall adding an extra level of strain relief. Mouldings are manufactured from halogen and red phosphorus-free, glass-filled thermoplastic, an environmentally-friendly material. Pre-assembled cable configurations are available in a variety of layouts featuring male and female single and double ended in a variety of standard lengths.

Suitable applications include aerospace, UAVs, medical devices, motor sport, robotics, defense, oil and gas exploration and instrumentation.
