Inductor in 4040 Case Size Offers Increased Height to 5.4 mm

    01/24/2019
AEC-Q200 Qualified Device Features Reduced DCR, Increased Current Handling, Higher Inductance, and Operating Temperature to +155 °C for Under the Hood Applications

MALVERN, Pa. — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced a new Automotive Grade IHLP low profile, high current inductor in the 4040 case size with an increased profile of 5.4 mm. Offering a reduced DCR, increased current handling, higher inductance, and a high operating temperature range to +155 °C, the Vishay Dale IHLP-4040ED-5A is suited for under the hood automotive applications.

The AEC-Q200 qualified device released today features high efficiency with typical DCR from 1.05 mΩ to 204.0 mΩ and a wide range of inductance values from 0.33 µH to 75.0 µH. The device provides rated current to 36.0 A and handles high transient current spikes without saturation.

The IHLP-4040ED-5A is optimized for energy storage in DC/DC converters up to 2 MHz. It also provides excellent attenuation of noise in high current filtering applications up to the SRF of the inductor. With its high operating temperature, the device is designed for filtering and DC/DC conversion in engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, and entertainment / navigation systems, in addition to noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, power mirrors and seats, HID and LED lighting, and heating and ventilation blowers.

Packaged in a 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz to ultra low levels, the inductor offers high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical shock. The IHLP-4040ED-5A is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.

Samples and production quantities of the new inductor are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery only in 10,000-piece quantities begins at $0.86 per piece.
