Bombardier Transportation, a leader in advanced rail transportation technologies, presented Infineon Technologies AG with its 2013 Supplier Sustainability Award. Bombardier introduced this award in 2011, and it is bestowed once a year in two categories. In the category for "Companies with more than 500 employees", Infineon won the prize for reaching the sustainability goals it had set itself. The Jury deemed Infineon's high level of product responsibility as well as the positive environmental effects its assortment has meant for the sustainable mobility of Bombardier Transportation particularly worthy of a prize. The award was presented at the Bombardier Suppliers' Days 2013 by Daniel Desjardins, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary as well as Chairman CSR Committee of Bombardier Inc., Canada, and Charles O‘ Donnell, Chief Procurement Officer of Bombardier Transportation, on July 8, 2013. Bombardier Transportation's Sustainability Award followed a two-step process. First of all, the 57 companies that took part answered a whole range of questions on the focal issues of corporate management, supply chain, transparency and environment. The ten finalists selected then took part in several rounds of interviews, in which they had to provide answers regarding strategy and sustainability case studies. Infineon emerged as the winner after the round of interviews. "Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of Infineon's corporate strategy and forms the basis of our business activities. This award validates our focus on sustainability," said Dr. Helmut Gassel, Head of Industrial Power Control at Infineon, on the occasion of the award ceremony. "We are extremely grateful to have received this award. It also provides us with added incentive for our future activities in the area of sustainability. The same applies for our semiconductor and system solutions, which play such an important role in increasing energy efficiency and thus saving resources." Infineon
