Ironwood Electronics' wear-resistant test socket offers cycle life of 500,000 insertions

    11/29/2012

Ironwood Electronics has announced their new wear-resistant HBT sockets for test applications. The HBT socket has etched spring pins with outside springs that provide robust connections for test applications including thermal characterization, burn-in, SLT, and ATE. The sockets are available in 0.8- to 0.4-mm pitches in BGA, LGA, QFN, and QFP configurations. The etched top plunger is made of a unique proprietary alloy with no plating that enables longer tip life and less cleaning during production test. The contactor has a cycle life of 500,000 insertions and a temperature range of ?50 to 150 °C. HBT sockets operate in applications with bandwidths up to 31.5 GHz. The socket provides heat sinking up to several watts with custom heat sinks available for higher power dissipation. Ironwood Electronics Product deeplink
