Low-voltage MOSFETs come in tiny packages

Available in DFN 1.0mm x 0.6mm and ultra-small DFN 1.6 x 1.6mm packages, Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, a designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of power semiconductors and power ICs, introduced a family of MOSFETs optimized for space-constrained portable wireless solutions such as tablet PCs, eReaders, smart phones, digital cameras, digital media players, and ultrabook computers. The AON1605 and AON1606 come in the DFN1.0x0.6 package, while the AON1611, AON1620, and AON1634 come in the DFN1.6x1.6mm package. The ultra low on-resistance of these devices reduces conduction losses, translating into lower power consumption and longer battery life, which is essential in wireless applications. The compact footprint and ultra-thin (? 0.55mm) profile of both DFN1.6x1.6 and DFN1.0x0.6 power packages enables more efficient solutions in space-constrained applications. "These new tiny DFN power packages utilize AlphaMOS™ technology, which enables exceptional performance and makes it possible for affordable form factor solutions for the wireless mobile market." said Peter Wilson, Director of Low Voltage MOSFETs at AOS. All mentioned devices are immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12 weeks. The unit price for 1,000 pieces ranges from $0.08 to $0.25, depending on the device.
