STMicroelectronics, a semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, is joining with sponsors Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center, EEWeb, Electronic Engineering Journal, MEMS-Exchange, MEMS Industry Group, MEPTEC and Mouser Electronics to host a one-day interactive summit to discuss the Future of MEMS and Sensors. The conference will be held on September 10, 2013 at the Marriot Hotel in Santa Clara, California. The summit will feature more than 25 distinguished panelists and speakers, including business leaders and top technologists who will demonstrate how they are adopting sensors to enable applications, augment the user experience, and expand markets. Industry visionaries will describe where the next-generation sensors are creating opportunities to shape the future of electronics. In addition to presentations, workshops on the Consumerization Wave of Sensors and Telehealth and Wellness Applications will be held through the day. "Sensors are becoming ubiquitous - moving well beyond smartphones and tablets to appear in everything from gaming devices and fitness monitors to lighting and smart buildings. This summit aims to share the possibilities that lie ahead and how to enable the next generation of devices," said Benedetto Vigna, Executive Vice President, General Manager of the Analog, MEMS & Sensors Group at STMicroelectronics. "The enthusiasm we have seen from speakers, sponsors and attendees for this unique conference promises to deliver exciting discussions about the future of the industry." In addition to the keynote by Vigna, speakers for plenary sessions include: o Consumerization Wave of Sensors o Becky Oh, President and CEO, PNI Corp o Tim Kelliher, Customer Solutions Architect, Movea Inc o Arsham Hatambeiki, Executive Director Applied Innovations, Universal Electronics o Janusz Bryzek, VP Development, MEMS and Sensor Solutions, Fairchild Semiconductor o Steve Malkos, Senior Manager, Broadcom o Steve Ohr, Research Director at Gartner Research will moderate a panel including Eli Savransky, Principal Architect from NVIDIA; Hamid Abdollahi, Founder and CTO from Recon Instruments; Becky Oh, President and CEO of PNI Corp; and Mike Perkins, Vice President of Engineering from Neato Robotics. · Telehealth and Wellness Applications o Steven DeMello, Co-Director Health Care, CITRIS, University of California, Berkeley o Susan Tousi, Vice President Engineering, Illumina o Alissa M.
