Staco Energy Products' FirstLine PE 3-Phase UPS Paired with Musashi's Hybrid SuperCapacitor-based ESS400 System

Musashi Energy Solutions (MES), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Musashi and a leading developer of Hybrid SuperCapacitor (HSC) cells and systems for mission-critical backup power, is pleased to officially announce Staco Energy Products as an OEM-Authorized Channel for Sales and Service of the ESS400 Energy Storage System.

The agreement authorizes Staco, with 80 years of power-quality expertise, and the Staco channel partners to sell and service the ESS400 systems to its Americas customer base. The Staco Network of Partners supports data centers, healthcare facilities, and industrial users seeking to eliminate the safety risks and high maintenance costs associated with traditional lead-acid (VRLA) and Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries used with Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs).

Why This Technology Matters

To protect against power glitches and outages, mission-critical facilities have typically relied on lead-acid (VRLA) or Lithium-ion batteries along with 3-phase UPS systems to provide "bridge time" until backup generators start. However, these traditional chemistries face significant safety and reliability hurdles. Musashi's ESS400 solves these issues by using Hybrid SuperCapacitors. Unlike batteries that store energy through a chemical reaction, HSCs store energy electrostatically. This allows HSCs to charge and discharge instantly, last for more than 15 years, and, most importantly, eliminate the risk of fire.

"Selecting Staco Energy Products as an OEM-authorized channel for sales and service was a natural choice given their strong direct and channel network, 80-year legacy of engineering excellence, and deep-rooted trust serving mission-critical customers," stated Alan Forster, Senior Director of Sales – Americas for Musashi Energy Solutions. The ESS400 replaces high-risk batteries in always-on operations with a safe, sustainable, and maintenance-free energy solution. The ESS400 is perfectly matched to the Staco three-phase UPS lineup and ensures that our Hybrid SuperCapacitor technology is seamlessly integrated into the most demanding environments in the world."

Solving the Battery Problem and Healthcare Safety Gap

Today's batteries are ill-equipped to handle the rapid power transients, peak loads and frequent discharge cycles of modern high-performance computing, medical imaging equipment and industrial motor loads. Musashi's technology manages these tasks reliably while eliminating the thermal runaway risks and regulatory hurdles associated with Lithium-ion systems. The Musashi ESS400 system addresses these challenges and more through:

•    Exceptional Safety: UL 1973-listed; no risk of thermal runaway.
•    Long-Term Reliability: 15+ years of life (100K+ cycles) matches the UPS lifespan, eliminating mid-life replacements.
•    Performance & Density: Space-saving design that recharges to 80% in just 20 seconds.
•    Certified for Healthcare: Seismic-certified (IBC) and HCAI (formerly OSHPD) approved for hospital use.

"Our customers in the data center, healthcare and industrial sectors are increasingly vocal about the limitations of lead-acid and the safety concerns surrounding lithium-ion," explained Chuck Barry, Vice President of Sales & Service for Staco Energy Products. "By combining our 3-phase UPSs with Musashi's Hybrid SuperCapacitor technology, we can now offer a power backup solution that safely handles the rapid, high-cycle discharge demands of modern compute infrastructure and exceeds the safety requirements of mission-critical facilities. We look forward to introducing this combined solution alongside Musashi at ASHE PDC."
