Newark element14, a high-service distributor of technology products and engineering solutions, is launching an exclusive open-source, single board platform, the Revolutionizing the Internet of Things (RIoT) board. The RIoT board is designed to run Android operating systems efficiently, and features a high processing performance/low-power consumption processor with a broad range of peripherals and display capabilities, making it perfectly suited as a hub for the Internet of Things (IoT).
The board is ideal for Android and Linux development and is based on the Freescale® i.MX 6Solo processor; using the ARM® Cortex®-A9 architecture. Priced at $74 the RIoTboard is available from Farnell element14 in Europe, Newark element14 in North America and element14 in APAC.

The RIoT board platform also includes a rich set of peripherals including a 10M/100M/Gb Ethernet port, 1 USB 2.0 OTG High Speed and 4 USB 2.0 High Speed 2.0 Hosts, LVDS, HDMI and Parallel RGB interfaces, micro TF and SD card interfaces, analog headphone/microphone jacks, camera interface, serial ports, JTAG and boot configuration interfaces.
