TE Connectivity, a leader in connectivity, announced an RoHS-compliant nickel PTFE plating for its DEUTSCH standard MIL-DIL-38999 Series III connectors. Along with TE’s recently announced black zinc nickel plating, this coating further expands TE’s response to new environmental regulations that reduce the use of cadmium. The nickel PTFE plating is Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) qualified, and offers the same level of electrical performance, harsh environment protection and temperature ranges as cadmium finishes.
Chris Novak, TE’s global DEUTSCH product manager, said, “With the new nickel PTFE-plated connectors and other recently launched products, TE offers a wide range of cadmium-free plating options that allows parts with different platings to be connected in existing applications with minimal risk of galvanic corrosion.”
The nickel PTFE finish is non-magnetic and non-reflective and ideal for a variety of applications including next-generation harsh-environment vehicles, electric drive vehicles, aerospace, mass transit, automotive, communications equipment, power generation and de-icing equipment.
The nickel PTFE plating option is available on TE’s DEUTSCH standard MIL-DTL-38999 Series III and DTS High Current connectors.
