To meet the growing power demands of industrial, robotics, automation, avionics, military, and medical applications, OmniOn Power has introduced its new ProLynx II point-of-load (POL) DC/DC converters. Available in 150-watt (W) ATXW150WX43-SRDZ and 250W ATXW250WX43-SRDZ versions, the ProLynx II modules feature ultra-wide 5-59-volt (V) DC input ranges and programmable, precisely regulated 2-30VDC output ranges. They are designed for compliance with RoHS, REACH directives, UL and VDE requirements, and meet MIL STD 810G shock and vibration requirements, making them well-suited for a variety of industrial applications.
The ProLynx II modules achieve high efficiencies across all operating conditions, including up to 96% efficiency at 36V input to 12V output conversion. They feature a compact 29.4 millimeter (mm) long by 15.5 mm wide by 14.5 mm high design and a wide -40°C to 105°C operating temperature range.
Powering Evolving Industrial Applications
Energy consumption in the United States is on the rise. According to projections made by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the industrial sector’s power consumption is expected grow 2.1% per year by 2026, surpassing 125 billion total kilowatt-hours (kWh). A significant portion of this growth comes from the continued implementation of advanced robotics and other automated solutions across industrial facilities, largely in the pursuit of a technology-centric Industry 4.0.
“From advanced robotics and Internet of Things devices to digital twins, cyber-physical systems, and artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions, today’s cutting-edge industrial applications require reliable and efficient power,” said Xiaojian Zhao, R&D director for board-mounted power at OmniOn Power. “Our ProLynx II DC/DC converters provide the input and output flexibility, power levels, and high efficiency required to support a wide range of innovative applications.”
In addition to industrial applications, the ProLynx II POL modules are well suited for use in digital signal processors (DSPs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), ARM processors, and programmable logic applications, as well as 24V and 48V bus voltage applications.
