PMBus.org launches redesigned website, presents updates at APEC 2014

    03/18/2014

The PMBus group has formally launched its redesigned website pmbus.org. The launch coincides with the introduction of Power System Management Protocol Specification V1.3 with Adaptive Voltage Scaling (AVS). Since the revised specification now applies to a broader, multi-market base, the updated website serves as a resource to meet the expanded needs of the engineers, PMBus members, and PMBus adopters that develop products for these markets.

    Key features include:
    • A section for general public access
    • An enhanced, password protected access/area for members
    • An enhanced, password protected access/area for adopters
    • The ability for each adopter company to list their PMBus-compliant products
    • PMBus Spec access for members
    • Enhanced search for PMBus-compliant products
    • PMBus-compliant products listed by category and by part
    • Optimized for mobile access

The PMBus Power System Management Protocol Specification provides a standardized method of communication to power conversion and power management devices. A set of power supply oriented commands provides a common method for configuring, controlling and monitoring power. With its added dimension of AVS, V1.3 has broad implications for manufacturers of FPGAs, ASICs, SoCs, networking and communication processors, core processors for computing, server and storage markets, and any other type of core processor that will benefit by adaptively altering its own supply voltage.

    Benefits:
    • Being more inclined to develop products with improved power management capabilities
    • Developing more competitive products with increased functionality, enhanced performance, and broader market appeal
    • Enjoying significantly reduced manufacturing costs
    • Achieving faster time-to-market.

At APEC 2014, the group will hold two key presentations:
-Session IS2-I-5: An Introduction to Revision 1.3 of the PMBus Specification, Convention Center
-Live Q&A: Find Out More about Revision 1.3 of the PMBus Specification, Omni Hotel, Ballroom Fort Worth 5, 4pm-5pm
