PCIM Europe 2012 sets new record

I participated at the PCIM press conference in Munich, Germany to find out what was in store for the next PCIM. In my opinion it will be full of the most interesting products and conferences that any engineer could wish for. I strongly advise a visit.

With over 310 exhibitors on an exhibition space of 14,500 square meters, PCIM Europe (8 - 10 May 2012 in Nuremberg) is set to reach a new record. The total space booked already exceeds the total for 2011. Power Systems Design, the premium Power magazine will be present at the show to report on the key events and products for those who cannot attend this top international power event. The figure of 7,000 pre-registered visitors not only surpasses the figure for the same time last year, it also confirms the industry's positive outlook for 2012. The many exhibitors from abroad (54 % of the total number) underline the event's leading position. The conference, with more than 700 participants expected, also mirrors this growth trend. For the first time, PCIM Europe will be held in two halls. Industry giants such as ABB, Infineon, International Rectifier, Mitsubishi Electric, Fairchild and Semikron as well as newcomers and medium sized companies will be presenting their innovative products and solutions for the current fields of application, such as alternative energy sources, electric vehicles or energy storage. Offering panel discussions, VIP interviews, a round table and over 50 vendor presentations, the forum in the exhibition hall will act as a key visitor magnet. Get a Job On Thursday the European Center for Power Electronics e.V. (ECPE) will be organizing a "Students Day". The student groups will visit different exhibitors to experience power electronics live. New entrants to the industry as well as experienced engineers will find information on career opportunities at the Semica Careers stand.

Hot topics at the conference The conference program with its focus on Power Electronics, Intelligent Motion, Renewable Energy and Energy Management will offer more than 200 previously unpublished oral and poster presentations. For the first time there will be five parallel sessions, and extensive poster sessions will be given more space. Highlights of the conference include the keynote presentations on Distributed Smart Energy Systems, Solar Power and Power Electronics Applications in Space, and Special Sessions on "Applications of Ultrafast Switching Devices", "E-Mobility" and "High-Performance Motor Control". In seven seminars and eleven tutorials held over the two days prior to the conference, well-known experts will share their knowledge on current and complex issues in power electronics. In addition to technical trends such as "Wireless Power Technologies" and "Battery Charging for Electric Vehicles", PCIM Europe will also offer a business topic on "The easy and straightforward way to a successful presentation of technical content". The detailed conference program and a current list of PCIM exhibitors can be viewed at www.pcim.de
