Power Supply Series Upgraded to 2XMOPP

    09/26/2018

MEAN WELL is proud to announce that the newly launched high-performance medical power supply, MSP-1000 series, has been upgraded to 2XMOPP.

The IEC60601-1 3rd edition standard is the harmonized standard for medical electrical equipment that has been adopted globally. In the latest 3rd edition of the standard, Means of Protection (MOP) was introduced, and it was further categorized into 2 different classifications, which are Means of Operator Protection (MOOP) and Means of Patient Protection (MOPP)

For equipment used within laboratory environment without contacting patients, power supplies that meet 2 x MOOP standards are normally sufficient. However, for those contacting patients, power supplies meeting with 2 x MOPP standards are compulsory. Taking the market demand into consideration, the insulation resistance level of MSP-1000 series which was launched this June is now upgraded from MOOP to 2 x MOPP (Means of Patient Protection). Power supplies that meet 2 x MOPP standards provide the highest level of protection. It can be advantageous to specify a 2 x MOPP power supply because it can cover most medical applications.
