The Energy Tech University Prize is an ongoing student competition to identify an innovative energy technology, assess its market potential, and propose a strategy for commercialization. For the Carolinas regional portion of the contest, the overall winner was a team from Virginia Tech, with a self-powered autonomous robot (SPAR) for overhead powerline inspection, and we’re chatting with Andrew Choi, graduate research assistant and captain of the winning Virginia Tech student team.
