Railway DC-DC Converters Offer RIA12 Surge Withstand Capacity

    06/15/2017

ABSOPULSE Electronics has recently added the DCR 30R-F0 series to its line of RIA12 railway quality DC-DC converters. The input voltage surge withstand capacity is 3.5 times greater than the nominal input voltage for 20 milliseconds, which ensures that the converters meet RIA12, the specification for the protection of traction and rolling stock equipment from transients and surges in DC control systems. The 30W units also meet the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock.

The DCR 30R railway converters offer wide input ranges of 24Vdc (15-34V), 48Vdc (29-67V), 72Vdc (43-101V) or 110Vdc (66-154Vdc). The units deliver outputs of 12V, 24V or 48Vdc. Custom input and output voltages are available on request. Efficiency is a minimum of 85% at full load.

Heavy filtering on the input and output ensures that the units comply with EN50121-3-2. Electronic protection includes 3kVdc input to output isolation, inrush current limiting and reverse polarity protection, current limiting, overload, overvoltage and short circuit protection.

Cooling is by conduction via baseplate, with additional cooling by natural convection.  The converters operate within a -25°C to +55°C cold plate temperature range for full specification, without the need for derating. Wider temperature ranges are available on request. We can also meet your requirements for wider temperature ranges.
