Resistor handles up to 12.5W continuous power

    02/19/2013

Measuring 0.5" square by 0.4" high, the HPC12 from Stackpole is a high power surface mount resistor that can handle up to 5 watts of continuous power with no additional heat sink or air movement required. The HPC incorporates an anodized aluminum housing which allows it to handle significantly more power than other resistors of similar size without causing significant heat rise on the PCB. If the application has 400 lfm air movement, the device can handle 12.5 watts. The HPC12 is available in tape and reel and bulk packaging. Pricing varies with resistance value and tolerance and ranges from $1.10 to $2.25 each in full package quantities.
