RS Components adds high-efficiency switching regulators from Analog Devices

    07/11/2013

RS Components, the trading brand of Electrocomponents, a leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, is now stocking the ADP2384 4A and ADP2386 6A 20 V synchronous step-down dc-to-dc regulators from Analog Devices Inc., a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal-processing applications. The ADP2384/86 regulators integrate ultra-low on-resistance power MOSFETS - a 44 m?, high-side power MOSFET and an 11.6 m?, synchronous rectifier MOSFET - to provide a high efficiency solution in a compact 168mm2 solution size. The devices provide ultra-high conversion efficiency of greater than 95 percent with the efficiency profile optimized for low duty-cycle operation. They operate from a wide input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 20 V and an output range from as low as 0.6 V up to 18 V with 1 percent voltage accuracy. The accurate current limit protection allows the use of smaller external inductors, which helps to minimize board space. External compensation and an adjustable soft start function provide design flexibility. The ADP2384/86 regulators provide a precision-enable input and a power-good output to allow a simple and reliable start-up sequence. The ADP2384/86 use a peak current mode, constant frequency pulse-width-modulation (PWM) control scheme, which offers excellent stability and transient response to minimize the output voltage ripple. The switching frequency of the regulators can be synchronized to an external clock to eliminate beat frequencies between regulators. The devices operate over the ?40°C to +125°C junction temperature range, are available in compact 4 mm × 4 mm 24-lead LFCSP packages, and are pin-to-pin compatible. These switching regulators target high performance applications that require high efficiency and design flexibility, such as in communications infrastructure, networking and servers, industrial and instrumentation, healthcare and medical, intermediate power rail conversion, and in dc-to-dc point-of-load applications. Other key features include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage protection (OVP), overcurrent protection (OCP), short-circuit protection (SCP) and thermal shutdown (TSD). RS Components
