Sager Electronics announced its support for the FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) Robotics team at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School in Southeastern Massachusetts.

The FIRST Robotics competition combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited time and resources, the student teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team brand, and build and program an industrial-size robot leading up to a thrilling competition against other teams’ robots.

“On behalf of our 400 employees, Sager Electronics is proud to sponsor the FIRST Robotics team,” stated Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sager Electronics, Faris Aruri. “It is exciting to see high school students – freshmen through seniors – compete in an event that is as close to real-world engineering as you can get. We wish them the best of luck, and hope it inspires their continued interest in science and technology.”

Liz Calef, Science Department Chair and head coach of the local FIRST team, TJ2 Robotics, commented, “We are so appreciative of the support of Sager Electronics. With this donation, we have been able to build a full practice field and look forward to sharing this space with other teams in our area. The full field allows us to test our sensor setup, our maneuverability, and our software control under actual competition conditions.”

“Our students on the Robotics team, along with their volunteer mentors, pour their hearts and souls into this competition – staying after classes most days and even coming in on the weekends,” remarked Scott Rubin, President of Friends of TJ2 Robotics. “It is gratifying that our students’ hard work and dedication is recognized and supported in this way by Sager Electronics, a company with roots in the community.”
