UK's Best Engineering Plant, Supply Chain Award and Innovation Award was scooped by Oxford-based Siemens Magnet Technology, which also ranked highly commended for its Skills Development. The Best Factory Awards (BFA), now in its 21st year, is one of the most coveted UK manufacturing awards being run in partnership with Cranfield School of Management and Works Management magazine and has awarded Siemens Magnet Technology, the trio of Awards. Ralph Seidler, director Supply Chain Management at Siemens Magnet Technology said "The BFA judging criteria is particularly focused on being able to demonstrate that the workforce reflects the business mission and values. That is why winning this wide range of awards from process innovation to skills development and for the work we doing with our supply chain is so important. " Siemens Magnet Technology MD Craig Marshall, said: "Picking up Best Engineering Plant out of the 100 or so entries this year was particularly pleasing. The assessment process is especially tough; the judges deliberately limited their time in front of the senior management team and spent the majority of their time and resources on the shop floor talking to technicians and the guys running our three shift operations at Eynsham. "These new awards for SMT (Siemens Magnet Technology) , are a reflection of the journey the company has been on since its formation in 2003. The life blood of SMT is challenge and continuous improvement which have resulted in driving up productivity through increasing efficiency, instilling and incentivising a sustainable culture of continuous improvement, all of which is backed up with rigorous skills training." ?
