    SM Series wirewound resistor

    Stackpole's high-energy SMT resistors handle up to 4W

    06/08/2016

    The SM Series wirewound resistor offers a robust surface mount device capable of handling up to 4 watts in a single part. The SM8035 case size can handle over 50J of energy while the SM2615 size can withstand more than 5 times the energy of a comparable size pulse withstanding flat chip resistor.

    A single SM is an ideal solution for applications that demand high continuous power with low heat rise. The compliant metal terminations eliminate part and solder joint cracking problems. In addition, the SM can operate safely in temperatures up to 275C where typical flat chip resistors can only operate at temperatures up to 155C.

    Applications include:

    * Engine controls
    * Electric motor, fan, and pump controls
    * Power conversion
    * Current limiting for circuit protection
    * Test, measurement, and data acquisition
    * Precision automation systems
    * Thermostats

    Pricing varies with size, value, and tolerance, and ranges from $0.33 to $1.15 each in full reel quantities. Contact Stackpole for volume pricing.
