    Step-Down DC-DC Regulator Offers 98% Conversion Efficiency

    02/02/2018

ABSOPULSE Electronics has recently released the BUR 3K-P600, a compact, encapsulated, industrial grade, step-down DC-DC regulator that delivers up to 3000W output power. The unit steps a 600Vdc (400-800Vdc) input down to 300Vdc or similar voltage at very high efficiency. The use of the latest semiconductor technology contributes to 97-98% efficiency, allowing high power density in a compact 155 x 68.5 x 270 mmenclosure. The unit is typically used in applications that require a stable regulated output voltage from a wide input voltage range and for generating a stable voltage for motor drive units.

The BUR 3K-P600 is encapsulated with a thermally conductive MIL-grade silicon rubber compound to ensure resistance to high levels of shock, vibration and humidity. It meets the requirements of IEC 61373 Cat 1 A&B shock and vibration standards for operation in extreme environments.Cooling is via base plate by conduction to the application heatsink or chassis. It is rated for continuous operation over a -40°C to +70°C cold plate temperature range for full specification (no derating). A fan cooled version of this design is available for applications that do not require full encapsulation.

Electronic protection includes overload, overvoltage and short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown with automatic reset in case of insufficient cooling. This DC-DC regulator is filtered to meet EN 55022 Class A EMI with wide margins - Class B is available as an option. It is designed to meet EN/IEC 60950-1 and corresponding industrial standards.
