TE Circuit Protection announces that Barry Brents, Field Applications Engineer for TE Connectivity's Circuit Protection business unit, has been named the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of circuit protection for Power Systems Design (PSD) Online. The goal of the newly established department titled "Expert Exchange " is to provide the magazine's online community with further depth and technical expertise in specific areas of power electronics. A frequent contributor to TE Circuit Protection's blog, around the circuit, Brents works with OEM and end-user customers to research, test and implement new circuit protection applications. He is a member of IEEE and has published numerous technical articles and application briefs. He is a former US Navy nuclear submarine officer with a B.S.E.E. from Texas Tech University, and has worked in the electronics and communications industries since 1991. "Power electronics engineers are perpetually challenged to keep pace with the evolution of the industry," said Brents. "I look forward to sharing my experience in circuit protection technology with the PSD Online community and discussing techniques for improving equipment safety and reliability." "Engineering technology is fluid as well as complex," said Jim Graham, Publishing Director of the PSD Franchise. "Opinions and debate bring about subsequent problem-solving and the ultimate creation of new and improved design solutions. We expect that the Expert Exchange columnists will animate that dialog." In an effort to provide the best "resource portal" for power electronics engineers, PSD Online will be introducing additional SME columnists in the months ahead, while encouraging the online engineering community to reach out to the authors by asking questions, stating opinions and suggesting topics.
